Message from HoD’s Desk

The world has become a smaller and better place to live in, thanks to the technological advancements contributed by the electronics and communication engineers. From the discovery of the ubiquitous Transistor by Shockley and team to the first wireless message sent across the Atlantic by Marconi, the field of electronics and communications has grown leaps and bounds and stands at the threshold of amazing discoveries and innovations today.

The team of dedicated faculty and students in our Department strive to keep pace with these developments by rigorous and meaningful involvement in the area of study. The Department provides a conducive learning environment for the stakeholders and gives every opportunity to the student to keep abreast with the cutting edge of technology.

Several novel schemes have been initiated in the Department keeping in mind the vision and mission of the programme. These include a 24x7 learning environment using the Moodle platform, plethora of add on and value added courses, innovative practices in teaching, professional society activities, school outreach programmes, creative involvement with the local community and the like. Students are given ample opportunities and exposure to make the learning process wholesome and interesting.

Our alumni stand testimony to our efforts and occupy key positions in reputed firms in India and abroad. Research and consultancy activities have also taken an upswing in recent years with identified thrust areas like wireless networks, signal and image processing and VLSI design.

The Department started with an UG (B.Tech) programme during the year 2001 with a basic intake of 60, which has been enhanced to 120 in the year 2009. Two PG (M.Tech) programmes in VLSI & EMBEDDED SYSTEMS and COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING have been introduced during 2011 and 2013 respectively. We are currently awaiting Research Centre status from the APJ Abdul Kalam Kerala Technological University.
