The Basic Science and Humanities Department serves as the cornerstone of all engineering disciplines, providing budding engineers with a profound understanding of scientific principles crucial for shaping the future of technology. Grounded in the belief that a comprehensive education must integrate technical proficiency with ethical values, our department offers a diverse curriculum aimed at fostering innovation, critical thinking, and societal responsibility.

Our esteemed faculty, comprising over 20 dedicated experts in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, and English, exemplifies a steadfast commitment to excellence in teaching and research.  Equipped with specialized classrooms and cutting-edge laboratory resources, the department is fully equipped to facilitate academic pursuits and research undertakings. Our faculty members possess outstanding academic qualifications and demonstrate unwavering dedication to their roles. Many faculty members actively engage in collaborative research initiatives, further enhancing the department's scholarly contributions.

The Science Club and the Mathematics Club thrives under the leadership of dedicated faculty members of the BSH department.The Science Club guided by Dr. Anand and Ms. Resmi focuses on fostering interest and engagement in scientific inquiry. The Mathematics Club, aimed at enhancing mathematical skills and promoting problem-solving activities, is managed by Mrs. Savithri and Mrs. Sajitha.

Both clubs provide valuable opportunities for students to deepen their knowledge and participate in enriching extracurricular activities.

The department also emphasizes the development of students' proficiency in the English language, fostering their ability to think critically and communicate effectively. Additionally, it promotes student participation in various extracurricular activities such as art, cultural events, debates, and group discussions, encouraging the display of individual talents.

Activities of the department are primarily focussed on imparting theoretical knowledge along with its application in the practical world. Topic: AI Tools For Effective Teaching

 AI tools are increasingly transforming the landscape of education, offering innovative solutions to enhance teaching and learning experiences.

 Prof. P V Rajaraman gave a brief introduction to AI, ML & DS. He Explained  AI tools for teaching and why they are relevant in modern education. Discussed various AI technologies used in education, such as intelligent tutoring systems, adaptive learning platforms, and automated grading systems

 Topic: Stress Management

Resource person: Athulya N V , Student Counsellor  ASIET

In our fast-paced lives, stress has become almost unavoidable.Ms Athulya N V explained well what is stress,what are the Causes of stress. She discussed stratergies for stress management like Physical Activity, Mindfulness and Meditation , Time Management, Healthy Lifestyle, Social Support and  gave practice on some Relaxation Techniques.

Topic : Latex an Over View & Hands -on training

The session featured , Dr . Silpa P A Asst . Professor EBE  Dept as the resource person. She shared invaluable insights into Latex. The program was conducted through a series of interactive lectures and hands-on workshops. Session began with a theoretical overview of the topic followed by practical exercises to reinforce learning. Faculties were provided with LaTeX templates and examples to work on during the workshops. She Explained Basic LaTeX Syntax, Document Preparation, Mathematics and Equations, Figures and Tables , Bibliographies and Citation

This session summarizes the transformative power of education in fulfilling Basic human aspirations and shaping a bright future for individuals and societies worldwide. Ms. Suja C K discussed fundamental desires shared by all humans such as happiness, fulfilment, success and belonging. Highlightened the role of education  in shaping individuals to achieve their aspirations by providing knowledge ,skill and values

Topic: Visionary Voyage : Commander’s Class

This session mainly focused on  leadership, strategy & vision.He addressed the ethical considerations and values that guide commanders and leaders, stressing the importance of integrity, accountability, and responsibility.
