Welcome to the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Adi Shankara Institute of Engineering and Technology. Established in 2001, the department has been an integral part of our college since its inception. Our NBA-accredited department offers B.Tech., M.Tech., and Ph.D.degrees, providing comprehensive education and research opportunities in the field.
India's fast-developing economy is witnessing significant progress across various industries, with the IT sector emerging as a major driver of this growth. NASSCOM recognizes India as the world's third-largest startup base, underscoring the IT industry's pivotal role in India's liberalization and development. At the core of this revolution lies Computer Science and Engineering, playing a crucial role in the success of both IT and startup sectors. The advent of startups has opened up exciting opportunities for Computer Science Engineers, who have traditionally contributed to services and product-based companies. Additionally, the Digital India campaign, initiated by the Government of India, has further fueled the demand for skilled professionals in the Computer Science stream.
In response to the escalating demand for Computer Science Engineers in this dynamic era, it is essential for them to possess multidisciplinary skills and stay abreast of the latest technologies. To cater to this need, the Department offers meticulously designed UG and PG programs in Computer Science and Engineering, equipping students with well-rounded skills for research and innovation. These programs provide a solid foundation for thriving in the fast-paced and ever-evolving IT industry.
Our faculty, a diverse group of motivated researchers, focuses on emerging areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Processor & Architecture Study, Image Processing, Data Analytics, Cyber Security, Mobile Ad Hoc Networks, Distributed Algorithms, Nature-Inspired algorithms, Image Segmentation, and Neural Networks, among others. The Department boasts state-of-the-art infrastructure and cutting-edge computing equipment, all backed by high-speed Ethernet and wireless networks. To cater to the passion of students inclined towards research and development of real-time, socially challenging solutions, we have four research labs: Multimedia, Data Analytics, and Bioinformatics Research Lab, and Cyber Security and Cyber Forensics Lab.

I graduated in Information Technology from Adi Shankara Institute of Engineering and Technology, where I was part of the first student batch. Initially, we had concerns about faculty and infrastructure, but those worries quickly vanished. The college provided excellent teachers and adequate facilities, significantly supporting my personal and technical development. The well-equipped labs and supportive staff are notable strengths of the institution. Many students secured jobs through campus placements right from our batch. Additionally, the college offered ample sports opportunities, contributing positively to my professional and personal growth.
My days at Adi Shankara College were truly magical and stood as a pivotal milestone in my career development. The Department of Computer Science & Engineering offers

The students of the Department are privileged with experienced faculties and skilled technical staffs, who mold the students academically sound and make ready for industrial requirements. The Department includes seventeen faculties who have completed their PGs and Ph.Ds. from elite institutions such as IITs and NITs. Many of the faculties have experience in reputed industries. Some of the faculties are also, pursuing their Ph.D programmes in various institutes.
This facility was setup in Programming Language Lab. This state-of-the-art lab facility supports the research activities and project development of the students. CSE department provides the “Data Analytics Research Lab” facility for doing research works in the area of Big Data Analytics, Smart Transportation, Social Network Analytics, and Computational Epidemiology etc. The facility uses big data analytics tools like Hadoop version 3 for analyzing stored historical data and Apache Spark for real-time data analytics. Apache spark and Apache Hadoop offers flexibility of using various programming languages like Java, Python, and Scala etc. The Data Analytics Research Lab offer researchers to practice and perform various machine learning and deep learning studies in almost all research area. Currently this facility has one Master Namenode, one Secondary Namenode and 25 slave nodes. This facility also offers scalability of slave nodes up to 100 nodes based on the demand of a project. The facility also has a master node which is accessible for projects from around the world using a public IP. Public IP also offers researchers get real-time information about the results.
The purpose of establishing this facility is:
1. To provide an overview about Big Data and its applications.
2. To give students hands-on experience in multi-node Hadoop & Spark cluster.
3. Setting up and running of Hadoop clusters in single mode as well as in pseudo-mode.

A new facility is added to CSE department known as ASIET MEDIA Lab located at F-14 room. The focus of the lab is to develop the creativity and research orientation towards multimedia components like Image, Video and Sound. In future the ASIET MEDIA Lab focus towards solving industry problems related to Multimedia. The facility consists of five nodes with one having better graphics & computing capability.
The purpose of establishing this facility is:
1. To provide an overview about 2D designing and 3D designing.
2. To give students hands-on experience in multimedia tools.
3. To explore different image processing research facility.
4. Remote Param Shavak HPC for parallel computing.

Reason for Establishment:
Due to both the underlying combinatoric nature of biological processes and the vast increase in data-generation capacity of modern biological lab techniques, the fields of biology and computer science are rapidly becoming inextricably linked. The Bioinformatics lab aims to bridge the gap in expertise between these two disciplines and develop computational techniques for solving biological problems, particularly as they apply to health-related fields.

This Research Lab facility in CSE department supports the research activities and project development of the students. Information gathering and knowledge discovery is the latest challenge in modern biology. Genomic information retrieval, better understanding of disease mechanism and novel drug discovery solutions has made possible through bioinformatics approaches. With the intention of providing high end services and quality education in Bioinformatics, Bio Informatics Research Labs have formed.
Objectives:

AdiShankara Institute of Engineering & Technology signs MOU with SUYATI TECHNOLOGIES Pvt.Ltd. According to the MOU, Suyati Technologies Pvt.Ltd has agreed to provide training to both students and teachers in advanced courses like Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics which would enhance their knowledge these core areas. The training would also result in good placement for the students. Placement training program was provided to the 2022 passout batches of ASIET by Pragmatix. This was a 48 hours training session which started from 18/08/2021 to 20/09/2021. The session covered quantitative aptitude, company specific aptitude , verbal English , numerical aptitude, logical reasoning, basics of coding and programming with company specific stands. In addition separate classes on Resume building and mock interviews were done. |

Department of CSE and IT has successfully implemented the Industry-supported IoT Research Lab in collaboration with International Centre for Free and Open Source Software (ICFOSS). Adi Shankara Institute of Engineering and Technology is the first Engineering Institution in Ernakulam district and one among the 14 such facilities in Kerala. The LoRaWAN specification is a Low Power, Wide Area (LPWA) networking protocol designed to wirelessly connect battery operated 'things' to the Internet in regional, national or global.
ICRAI' 21 was a premier International technical conference hosted by Adi Shankara Institute of Engineering and Technology, Kalady, Kerala, India, in association with ScotsHunt,UK, Computer Society of India, International Society of Automation organized by Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering , ASIET on 29th and 30th June 2021. The Conference was inaugurated by Shri.K.Anand, Managing Trustee, Adishankara Trust. This was a major International Conference bringing together researchers, engineers and practitioners who work in the areas of artificial intelligence and its applications in the industry and real world. This conference was not only a spectacular meeting to share information and knowledge about futuristic technologies and its challenges , but also a pivotal help to build an effective platform for communication and cooperation among the researchers/academicians worldwide. More than 100 papers were received out of which 90 papers were selected for the presentation. Twenty five papers were selected for publication in the journal and 65 papers in the journal proceedings.

As part of Google’s student-focused skill initiative, Google Cloud has launched a student-focused Cloud Engineer Career Readiness Program. The program offers market-ready curriculum to help students from higher education institutions achieve industry readiness by completing the Associate Cloud Engineer Certification. Google along with the Advanced Skill Development Center Division (ASAP) conducted a workshop on basic introduction to the Career Readiness Program and Google Cloud Platform for the faculties of the Ernakulam District. A training session on GCP Essentials was conducted by their certified trainers at the Adi Shankara Institute of Engineering and Technology on 16th January, 2020.
