
Adi Shankara Engineering College has joined hands with the UAE-based Zayed International Foundation for the Environment to announce the launch of an agriculture-education project based on UN guidelines. Kerala Government Forest Department Chief Conservator of Forests Dr. R. Kamalahar (Indian Forest Service) was inaugurated. The inauguration ceremony was held on June 5, 2024, by Shri K., Managing Trustee of Adi Shankara Group. Anand presided over, and Project Head Dr. Jacob George delivered the keynote address. Adi Shankara Engineering College Principal Dr. M. S. Murali, Aushadhi Managing Director Dr. T. K. Hrithik, N.S.S. Coordinator Prof. CJO, Prof. Shaji, and others spoke on the occasion. The UAE-based foundation chairman of the project, His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Bin Fahad, and Chief Coordinator, Mr. Saji Itup Thomas, came and spoke online about the project partnership. Combining innovative agricultural practices with education, the project is expected to introduce artificial intelligence technologies to farmers and inspire the younger generation. The project is in line with the United Nations Development Goals of Sustainable Organic Farming, Water Conservation, Biodiversity Conservation, and Promoting Self-Sufficiency: Production of Organic Vegetables and Grains. In addition, the objectives of encouraging students to develop technological solutions in agriculture, expanding the Adi Shankara Business Incubation Center, and engaging in market research are also prioritized. Foreign cooperation has been obtained for the basic development of the project, the construction of greenhouses, the involvement of local communities, and community impact studies. The initiative aims to create a global model of sustainable agriculture and encourage international cooperation.
