On 17 February 2026, the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science organized an outreach program at the Community Forest, Ayyampilly, under the theme “Be a Coastal Guardian.” The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the ecological importance of mangroves and their role in combating climate change.
A total of 55 first‑year students actively participated in the program. The day’s activities included:
* Mangrove planting to support coastal restoration.
* Educational workshops highlighting the environmental significance of mangroves.
* Guided nature walks to help students connect with the biodiversity of the coastal ecosystem.
The event provided students with hands‑on experience in environmental stewardship while fostering a sense of responsibility toward sustainable living. By engaging directly with the community forest, the students not only contributed to ecological restoration but also strengthened their understanding of how technology and environmental science can work together for a better future.
