At Adi Shankara Institute of Engineering and Technology (ASIET), water harvesting is an integral part of the campus's sustainable practices. The institute has implemented a comprehensive rainwater harvesting system that captures and stores rainwater, which is then utilized for various purposes, including irrigation, landscaping, and maintaining greenery on the campus. This initiative not only conserves water but also raises awareness among students and faculty about the importance of sustainable water management in addressing environmental challenges.

Water conservation involves the efficient use of water to minimize waste and ensure the sustainable management of this vital resource. It encompasses all measures taken to protect water bodies, freshwater sources, and meet our daily needs without causing pollution or wastage. At Adi Shankara Institute of Engineering and Technology, we have implemented several strategies to conserve water and promote sustainability on campus.

Our campus utilizes borewells not only to extract groundwater but also to harvest rainwater, helping to recharge the groundwater table. We have strategically placed borewells in key areas, including one near the Mechanical Block and another at the ladies' hostel. Additionally, we have two open wells on campus that store runoff water, further aiding in groundwater replenishment.

An open water tank is also provided on campus to collect and store rainwater. We have a state-of-the-art rainwater harvesting system with a capacity of 16 lakh liters, which efficiently captures water from rooftops, filters it, and stores it in a dedicated tank. This purified water is then available for various uses.

Furthermore, a sewage treatment plant operates within the campus, treating wastewater and repurposing it for irrigating the campus greenery. This integrated approach not only conserves water but also exemplifies our commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable living.
