Arya Udayan
Assistant Professor

Arya Udayan is a research-oriented, passionate, and enthusiastic academician with a strong blend of industrial, research, and teaching experience in Biomedical Engineering. She has professional expertise in medical device innovation, artificial intelligence in healthcare, biomedical instrumentation, and academic mentoring. Her experience spans research organizations, healthcare institutions, industry R&D, and engineering education.

Her professional experiences include areas like:

● Former Project Research Scientist, Department of Neonatology, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, working in an ICMR-funded project on AI-based screening and staging of Retinopathy of Prematurity

● Former R&D Lead – Medical Devices, Eightwe Digital Transformations Pvt. Ltd., leading development of cloud-integrated ovulation tracker and non-invasive breast cancer screening system

● Former Biomedical Project Engineer, Ubio Biotechnology Systems Pvt. Ltd., involved in PCB design, prototype development, and technical documentation for diagnostic devices such as PCR and POCT systems

● Former Biomedical Engineer (R&D) Cum Assistant BDM, AST Meditech, contributing to IVF-related medical device development, technical support, and client coordination

● Mentoring student projects in healthcare technology, AI diagnostics, medical imaging, and embedded healthcare systems

● Best Paper Award – IEEE Access 2025, for research on Development of an IoT Enabled Optical Device for the Detection of Ovulation Related Crystallization in Human Saliva

● Best Paper Award – IEEE CIACON 2025, for research on Microscopic Saliva Image Analysis for Ovulation Detection Using Image Processing and GLCM Features

● Prepared and submitted the project proposal during tenure at Eightwe Digital Transformations Pvt. Ltd. (Medzell), in collaboration with Sahrdaya College of Engineering and Technology under a formal MoU, which secured approval for a ₹49.78 lakh technology development project under IIT Bombay TIH-IoT for the development of an advanced breast cancer screening device based on Transillumination and Near Infrared Spectroscopy.

● Research interests include Medical Image Processing, Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare, IoT-enabled Medical Devices, Signal Processing, Embedded Systems, and Non-invasive Diagnostic Technologies
