Dr. Meenakshy K is a distinguished academic and administrator with over 28 years of experience in engineering education and leadership. She retired as Principal from Government Engineering College, Thrissur, after holding several key positions, including Professor, Head of Department, and Principal, across reputed institutions such as GEC Kozhikode, GEC Palakkad, and GEC Wayanad. She holds a B.Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (1990) and an M.Tech in Power Systems (1995), both from the College of Engineering, Trivandrum, and earned her Ph.D. in Image Processing from Cochin University of Science & Technology in 2011.
Dr. Meenakshy began her academic career as a Lecturer at CUSAT and later joined GEC Thrissur, where she progressed through the ranks of Assistant Professor and Professor, eventually taking on the role of Principal. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated excellence in teaching, research, and academic administration. Her areas of interest include Image Processing, Biomedical Applications, and Embedded System Design. She has guided 3 Ph.D. scholars and co-guided 2 to completion and is currently supervising 2 others. Additionally, she has mentored numerous M.Tech and B.Tech student projects across diverse interdisciplinary domains.
She has published extensively, with 17 journal papers, 14 international conference papers, and 5 national conference presentations. She is a Senior Member of IEEE and a Life Member of ISTE. She has held prominent positions in the IEEE Kerala Section, including Vice Chair (2019–2020), Chair of the Women in Engineering (WIE) affinity group (2021–2022), and is an Execom Member (2024). She has actively contributed as a coordinator and advisor for NPTEL, IQAC, Women’s Cell, KTU projects, and student activities like the IEEE Student Branch and various accreditation and academic development programs
